Alright, there's arisen a need for an events coordination team. Pretty obvious. If you have ideas or would like to be a point person/member post here.
Here are some current ideas and if we could create a tentative schedule that'd be awesome;
-Q&A Panel for attendees:attendees sign up and take questions from the participants about why they've become involved in the Occupy Movement. -Teach-ins:organize professors and folks with specialty skills (crafts, yoga, etc) to do their thing with groups. -Sign making party! -Local business marches/rallies:march to local eateries, coffee shops, and other places to support their businesses (Quack-in breakfast march on Monday morning is what I suggest) -Bank marches:march to the big bank and picket or whatever we think would bring attention -Occupy Columbia critical mass: you bike kids know, teach everyone else.
And I got tons of other crazy ideas.
-Travis of OC -Silent dance party: bring your ipod and some head phones (if we can dance together we can do anything) -Acoustic band music: got a band? bring your acoustics and play for 10 minutes at such and such time
-Travis

anyway - been working on contacting folks all morning to try to drum up a few things. will report if i hear anything back. don't know how much will be ready for saturday though we'll definitely need them to be an ongoing thing.
i can certainly do part of the craft event if anyone's interested in that at all. i'll probably be doing it on my own anyway to pass the time and don't mind teaching a few others. would help to have a few others who know how since it's easier to teach one on one or in two's or three's if there are complete newbies.
i also have a box of old tubes of paint that would be good enough to use for signs. maybe brushes too if i didn't throw them out during my last house purge.
i think milton's bringing his guitar. he might want to do the 10 min thing.

I've contacted two professors and a TA, two of which are on board at the moment. I sent emails asking for them to conduct a teach-in, lecture (anecdotal or otherwise), or Q & A - the only thing I asked of them is that it should pertain to the occupy movement in some manner. The TA's field is anthropology, and the professor's field is religion. He is my professor for Eastern Religion (namely, Buddhism), and is active on many levels (political, nonviolence, etc, etc). As soon as this gets hashed out, let me know so I can provide them with further information.

I've been talking with a yoga instructor about doing a wed afternoon class, do it as a one off, if things go well POSSIBLY making it regular. Off hand, does anyone know if the hours of 1-4 would be a good window for her to conduct class?
