In the Air Force we used arm bands to signify health conditions, but my kid would love your balloon idea!

I had Combat Lifesaver medical training in the Army, and have worked as a Security Guard in the past.

Also, IDEA: For any elderly, disabled, or pregnant adult, and for ALL children participating in marches, a Yellow Ballon should be tied to their wrist to mark them as a person with some sort of marker to identify them to police officers to identify them as well and take precaution on their part not to injure any children, elderly, or pregnant people. Also, I'm not familiar with columbia police, but would it be worth it to work with them as much as we can? This is an idea that I am looking into - but I am looking at it from the point of limited / unknown funds. Helium ain't cheap any more. I'm sort of thinking something like Yellow Ribbon sashes (of sorts) or something similar that we can produce easily, cheaply, and in mass - and that is also reusable (balloons eventually pop). Occupation means long-term.

All those who have offered your assistance - please contact me directly (click the green @ symbol under the YinYang image). It is difficult for me to put "Lucky" on a list without really knowing who "Lucky" is. (Sorry Lucky, your ID just made a great example.)

I can help on the safety front. I have organized there before and know the guy with whom we'll need to work. Generally, they will want to work with us, but will insist we not pitch any tents on the grass that require stakes. Pop-up tents without stakes might be fine -- just anchor them without stakes in the ground.
How can I contact you directly?

No problem Keith. YOU can know who I am without everyone who has access to this board. (What am I getting myself into, eh?) I did get the night off so I will be able to help on Saturday. PM on its way.

First Aid Volunteers, It has been pointed out that First Aid Providers should be protected from Liability of anyone they might treat. I have drafted a preliminary Waiver for your review. This will not only help to protect First Aid Providers from liability, but may be helpful in passing on information to EMS (should it be necessary) as well as provide a paper-trail if necessary. The draft is in PDF format, so anyone should be able to open it. Please look it over. Give me any thoughts on it. It will be discussed in a Focus Group on Saturday afternoon. www.legalsync.com/OccupyColumbiaMedWaiver.pdf

Hi everyone,
I am sorry I'm late in adding to this forum, but wanted to say that I am a trained therapist and therefore can be on hand (when available outside of work hours) for anything psychologically-related, e.g., panic attack, anxiety/trauma, sexual assault debriefing etc. etc.
More specifically, I was hoping to perhaps do some stress-reduction/ centering/progressive muscle relaxation training. This may help keep us centered and focused in the midst of everything and also provide space for people if things get overwhelming. More importantly, in this way, these skills can be de-specialized and taken into the larger community, adding to the goal of supporting the 99% who experience duress on a day-to-day basis.
Please let me know if there is interest in this.
In solidarity, L
