Yes, Wonderful!
Do you think you can get some recipes together. Maybe one pot wonders to feed large groups of people?

I can also help with this. I have some experience cooking for up to 40 people.

I am familiar with single pot cooking and have cooked for a large quantity of people. I would like to help with cooking as well as with perhaps facilitating a central distribution tent for foods. I would also be willing to draft a letter to local businesses asking for food donations to help feed the group.
It may cut down on work for those in the culinary camp, as well as cut down on any waste disposal issues, if those occupying would bring their own tent kit of a bowl, a plate, utensils, and a cup.
As we gather recipes we should keep in mind common food allergies and adjust appropriately.
I think those who are more reticent to sit in should be encouraged to drop off food for those who are actively occupying as a means of participating in the movement.

Also, it wouldn't be a bad idea to establish a calendar for when people are bringing things so that we can ensure we have an appropriately staggered schedule with no landslides and no long dead spaces.

I can help with this also. I spoke to Travis today after the meeting. He mentioned seeing if we could get food donations from businesses. I also spoke with Lisa Roberts the administrator with Food Not Bombs and she would like to get involved as well. I don't know if we should maybe all try to get together since the occupation begins on next Saturday to get together on this.

Sandra, I think getting everyone together is an excellent idea. I teach during the day, but I am available in the evenings and would be more than willing to offer up my home as a meeting place if people are amenable to that. Either way, getting the group together is a great idea!

Sounds good. Send me an email so we can coordinate this. My address is slsulton@yahoo.com. I contacted Lisa with Food Not Bombs earlier today. I'm waiting on her to respond.

I have experience with the food industry, but aside from that I know next to nothing about cooking, especially for a large number of people. So I could help with serving if need be.
Something of interest that we talked about in the small group today- it would probably be much cheaper (and more sustainable) to cook mainly vegetarian food for the people attending, so that we can all eat it.
I would also like to suggest that we don't buy food or supplies from Wal-Mart.
Food Not Bombs has dedicated to providing for the occupations going on around the country, so I think they should be our number one pick for this.
If that doesn't work out though, I have a hard time with the idea that only a handful of people would be handling the costs, time, and effort of cooking for as many people as we'd like to see. So we would need to have a donation system set up if it comes to individuals.

Awesome guys! Food is, of course, going to be important. Keep coordinating with one another so we can keep folks fed!

Noah,
I spoke with Lisa Roberts with Food Not Bombs yesterday at the meeting and they plan to be involved. She has put the call out on FNB's facebook page for requests for food.
We hope to get together this week to finalize plans seeing as though the occupation begins on Friday.
Everyone who is interested in helping send me your email address (slsulton@yahoo.com) so we can coordinate a meeting. Howardae as offered her home as a meeting place.

Not sure if this will work but I have a friend who cooks vegan/vegetarian meals. If we collect donations she is willing to cook the food. Let me know what you all think.
We need to determine if we are going to cook the food only, which would be a stretch or get food donations or both.
